It is interesting to note the peak figure for Carrys registered in the UK was 15,608 in the year 2006. The statistics now indicate that over 5,000 of these have been scrapped or exported.

You should get yourself over to Guernsey,CI as there's loads and loads of them still running around on the islands roads. :D

Yes, I noticed the number of Carrys when I visited Guernsey. Presumably Jersey is also well served by them The local councils in Cornwall and south Devon ran many Carrys as they were so useful for travelling along the very narrow country lanes. The Isle of Wight also had many of these vehicles mainly used by tradesmen, presumably for the same reason -- the narrow lanes. I'm told most of them never left the island.

During my recent visit to the Shetland Islands in my Carry campervan, I saw one Carry van and one Carry truck. I expected to see more as there are some very narrow lanes on the outlying islands. There is a good ferry service between the various islands. I go to Ireland two or three times each year in my campervan but have never seen another Carry there. Perhaps they were not imported into the country.

I note the current DVLA numbers for the Carry is 8248 licensed for road use and 1291 on SORN.

Yes, there are lots of Carrys used by tradesmen in Jersey, but many of them are getting a bit long in the tooth now, and are being replaced by the Chinese copies (DFSK).

... and do the Jersey and Guernsey Carrys rarely leave the island as is the case of the IoW Carrys ? (For the IoW vehicles it is a very much shorter ferry journey.)

At a guess, yes, and we rarely salt roads, but lots of stop/start and low gear driving. :|
