Postby chinlou69 » Fri Feb 27, 2015 4:34 pm

I use my 2.5 v6 for work. This mornin it was fine but this afternoon the steering was weird it works fine except for 2 or three sticky points. When i try to turn from straight it does it and sticks again When straightening up. Fluid looks low but is above minimum. Any help wid be apreciated

The logical first step is to top the fluid up to the maximum level and then see if the problem is still there.

quite often a weird sensation when steering can be caused by the universal joints in the lower column becoming stiff . it may be worth while giving them a few liberal sprays with WD40 and spray lubricant.
like my toolbox . my stomach keeps getting larger year after year............................

Hi,
Sorry to revive an old thread but my wife's car now has this issue, WD40 treatment yesterday and still the same. Fluid level is to the max. Turn the wheels max right, max left and viewing the fluid in the tank no movement at all. Please help? "Pumps don't fail" apparently???

But belts wear out. Perhaps the pump drive belt is slipping?

Fixed it absolutely drowning the Universal Joint at the bottom of the steering mech with WD40, all good now.

But sadly the issue has returned and WD40 not working this time!
I see the UJ's are for sale on ebay! Is it time for a new one???
